Definition:

• • Eyelet – a single flanged usually metal t-shaped ring
    used for reinforcing holes in fabric or paper
  • Grommet – an eyelet with a washer used where stronger reinforcing is required.

Setting a Grommet
Place the black anvil, the circular groove side facing up, on a flat hard surface
Place the eyelet, flange side down so it sits in the circular groove with the centre shaft facing up
After cutting a hole to match the internal diameter of your eyelet in your fabric,
where you want the grommet to be,
Place the fabric wrong side up over the eyelet centre
Next place the washer on top of fabric so it sits around the eyelet center shaft.
When everything is ready in place, place the nose of the hand setter
Into the shaft of the eyelet, make sur the washer is hold the fabric down.
Hammer the hand tool firmly till the top edge of the eyelet has rolled over the edge of
the washer holding it firmly in place.
Store your setters in a safe place, apply a thin layer of machine oil or similar occasionally.
